How the math works
Tile coverage: effective tile size = (tile_L + gap) × (tile_W + gap). Tiles needed = ceil(area / effective_size).
Pattern waste: straight 10%, brick/offset 12%, diagonal 15%, herringbone 20% — extra tiles needed because the cuts at edges and the rotation produce more unusable offcuts.
Grout-line area: total area minus (tiles × tile_L × tile_W) — useful for estimating grout volume.
Boxes: ceil(tiles / per-box) to buy whole containers.
