How the math works
RER (resting energy) = 70 × (body weight in kg)^0.75. MER (daily need) = RER × life-stage multiplier: puppy 2–4 mo ×3, puppy 4–12 mo ×2, adult intact ×1.8, adult neutered ×1.6, senior ×1.4. Active dogs +20%, weight-loss target ×1.0 of RER, weight-gain ×1.6.
1 standard cup of dry kibble ≈ 100 g (varies 90–120 g by kibble size). Always weigh the food on a kitchen scale for accuracy. Adjust portion by ±10% every 2 weeks based on body condition score (you should feel ribs without seeing them).
